How to create accessible content

Anyone who creates or commissions content for our websites must make it accessible. This includes:

  • public websites, like www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk
  • internal websites, like our intranet and SharePoint
  • websites we pay a supplier to run

Accessible content means everyone can find, read and use our information easily. It also helps the council meet UK accessibility regulations.

Where to start

If you are:

  • new to accessibility, start with What accessible content is, then follow the subject-specific guides.
  • familiar with accessibility, use the guide for the content type you need.

For general advice on planning, writing and managing council website content, read our Content design guide

Our content publishing guides are for council employees, partner organisations and external suppliers that work with us.
