How to make web pages accessible
Make web pages accessible so everyone, including people with disabilities and people using assistive technology, can read council information online.
Follow this guidance if you create or edit content on:
- websites, including our public-facing sites, intranet and SharePoint
- other online council systems, including those run by external suppliers
Accessible web pages:
- work for people with disabilities and with assistive technologies, such as screen readers and keyboard navigation
- adapt to desktop, mobile and older or slower devices
- improve clarity and usability for all users
- are easier for AI and automated tools to process
- help meet legal and accessibility requirements
To make sure you’ve covered the basics, use the web page checklist.
