Psychoactive substances, which are also known as ‘legal highs’, are drugs that are designed to replicate the effects of illegal substances.
The Psychoactive Substances Act came in force in May 2016 and it bans any production, supply and importation or exportation for human consumption of these potentially dangerous drugs. Some products can also contain illegal substances even if advertised as a “legal high”.
The new legislation also gives powers to law enforcement to take action against all suppliers of psychoactive substances with offences to produce, supply, offer to supply, import or export them. The Act provides powers to seize and destroy psychoactive substances, search persons, premises and vehicles and enter premises by warrant if necessary. If you know of anyone selling new drugs, you can report this anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
From the 1st April, Your Health, Your Way is the new service commissioned by Nottinghamshire County Council to support Nottinghamshire residents (children, young people, adults and families) to get active, lose weight, reduce alcohol intake and quit smoking. The service will also provide support for falls prevention and family weight management.
Due to the current situation with Coronavirus, all support will be provided remotely via phone, online or using an app.
