NottAlone.org.uk, a website sharing local mental health advice and support for people of all ages in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, is thrilled to announce the launch of its brand-new podcast, The NottAlone Podcast, coinciding with Mental Health Awareness Week (12–18 May).

Co-hosted by NottAlone founders and educational psychologists Dr. Orlaith Green and Dr. Maddi Popoola, the podcast encourages real and open discussions about mental health and wellbeing.

Dr. Orlaith Green, NottAlone co-founder and Principal Educational Psychologist and Head of Service for Psychology & Inclusion Services at Nottinghamshire County Council said:

“The message we are trying to put out there is that life comes with challenges, but no matter what you’re going through, you are not alone.

“Mental health conversations don’t always need to be clinical. Sometimes, creating a safe space for someone to open up and just listening to them can make a big difference. That’s where real change starts, in our daily lives, one conversation at a time.

“This is really at the heart of NottAlone’s mission. Encouraging communities to talk openly about mental health and share experiences – so that’s where The NottAlone Podcast comes in, it provides a platform for these conversations engaging listeners in a direct and meaningful way.”

Bringing real-life stories, practical advice and insights from local professionals and community leaders from across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, the podcast aims to break stigmas, normalise mental health discussions and raise awareness of free local support services that are available across the city and county.

Dr. Maddi Popoola, NottAlone co-founder and Educational Psychologist and Mental Health Support Team Service Manager at Nottingham City Council said: “No topic is off the table when it comes to the podcast. Sometimes, we will discuss heavy topics that people often avoid.”

The first series of the podcast focuses on the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people, exploring topics such as building resilience in early childhood to navigating anxiety, school attendance, neurodivergence and the positive impact of finding hobbies or activities that spark joy and support your emotional wellbeing. The series aims to shine a light on the complexities young people face and equip listeners with the tools they need to support themselves and others.

Dr. Popoola added: “The challenges facing young people today are complex and ever evolving, and we need to talk about them openly and honestly. It’s more important than ever.

“Whether you’re a parent, carer, teacher or a young person yourself listening, we hope you know that help and support is out there.”

The NottAlone podcast is now available to listen to on all major streaming platforms. Subscribe and follow to stay up to date with future episodes.
