Les Ward was elected to Nottinghamshire County Council to represent the Rufford division in June 2009. He is a parish councillor at Edwinstowe and represents the parish on a number of outside agencies. These include Ollerton and District Citizens Advice Bureau, for which he is an executive member and trustee.
For the majority of his working life - until enforced retirement due to injury sustained on duty - Les was a policeman serving in city, urban and rural locations. He ended his service at Edwinstowe where he was the 'village bobby' for seven years.
He is married to Sandi with four children and nineteen grandchildren, all of whom live locally.
Les has many and varied interests which include classical and country and western music, astronomy and gardening. He is a keen musician and enjoys playing the organ, piano and guitar.
He is the company secretary, director and trustee for Edwinstowe Arts, Heritage and Festival Organisation which was set up in 1997 to put on events based on performing, visual, creative and musical arts.
