Nottinghamshire Day Celebrations
Nottinghamshire Day 2025
On Saturday 23 August, there will be a free-to-attend* community event as part of the final weekend of the Robin Hood Festival at Sherwood Forest.
An actioned-packed day of activities are planned including the chance to try out archery and axe throwing (for a small fee), taking part in a game of ‘Hunt the Outlaw,’ viewing falconry displays and as well as watching a display from crowd-favourites, the Sherwood Outlaws.
If you’d like to help out with Nottinghamshire Day, there are lots of opportunities to volunteer at Sherwood Forest over the whole weekend. This includes helping sell programmes or lending a hand in the café or car park. Find out more about volunteering opportunities by emailing sherwoodevents@rspb.org.uk.
You can also help get #NottsDay trending again. Share your photos of your favourite places in the county, whether it’s a much-loved walking route or your family’s go-to place for a great day out. Simply use #NottsDay when posting on social media.
*For more information on the event and parking costs visit the RSPB dedicated webpage.
Due to the volume of traffic expected, please follow the signs via the A616 rather than going through Edwinstowe village.

Poetry Competition
There’s a rumour there are lots and lots
Of unknown, secret poets in Notts.
Who have yet to even try to write a poem
To share their thoughts and share the bounty
Of this brilliant, beautiful county
That they are really proud and happy to call their home.
So here’s an opportunity
To write and share your poetry
Be you born here, live here, work here or just play,
What warms your heart or lights your fire
About the county of Nottinghamshire?
Please share a poem for the annual Nottinghamshire Day.
The Nottinghamshire Day poetry competition closed to entries on Friday 30 August. Want to vote for your winner? Head over to our Facebook page where the shortlisted poems will be shared. The winner will be decided by a public vote to make sure you show your support for your favourite poem!
