Early Help Unit

If your query does not relate to a safeguarding concern, you may wish to contact one of the teams listed below.

The Early Help Unit is led by a team of skilled Early Help Advisors who are available to provide information, advice and guidance to professionals and families in need of early help services and interventions.

The Early Help Unit receive requests for support for council Early Help Services, and they ensure that referrals are passed on to the most appropriate team to action. The team will also ensure that referrals are passed to external teams if a family’s needs are better met by them, for example substance use or domestic abuse services.

Early Help Advisors also support professionals to help equip them with the confidence and skills to support families as soon as needs emerge. This includes general advice, but may even include help to navigate services, or helping set up Team Around the Family meetings if needed.

The Early Help Unit does not deal with child protection concerns; these must be sent to the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) as soon as possible.
