Family health and wellbeing

We understand how important it is for children and families to be happy and healthy. Our teams can help you get the support you need for a range of health and wellbeing issues.

We can support with issues which support healthy and happy family life including sleep, toilet training tips, advice with weaning, healthy eating and fussy eaters. We also run paediatric first aid training, baby massage and can provide you with information on Healthy Start vitamins, dental hygiene including working closely with our colleagues in the Healthy Families Team (Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust).

You will meet the healthy family team during routine child development reviews provided by health visitors and healthcare assistants, these often take place in family hubs. When your child is in school, they will also have access to a school nurse if they need additional help.

Emotional Health and Wellbeing

Parent and Carer Emotional Health and Wellbeing

We offer a range of workshops and courses which support good emotional health. We understand that being a parent is sometimes hard and so we run PHEW (Parents Health & Emotional Wellbeing) groups, helping parents learn new skills such as mindfulness, along with the chance to meet new friends and get out of the house.

For parents who lack confidence we run a course to support you increase your self-esteem and we even have meet and greet volunteers who can be there to welcome you when you first come along to sessions. 

You can find local mental health support and advice for young people and adults (Nott Alone) or following the Nott Alone team on social media (Facebook).

Nott Alone includes information about services for all ages in Nottinghamshire including links to helplines, counselling and specialist treatment.

Children and young people’s emotional health and wellbeing

Our services now include support for families with children over the age of 5, we are keen to support families who are worried about their child’s mental health needs. We will be developing more programmes so please follow us on social media to keep up to date.

Young People aged 11-25 in Nottinghamshire can access counselling and support online through Kooth (Notts Help Yourself).

Physical Health

We provide several activities and services to help you, and your family have a healthy lifestyle. 

Eligible expectant parents and those with young children can access Healthy Start vouchers from our teams to get free vitamins and milk (Healthy Start)

We work closely with Your Health Nottinghamshire who provide a number of programmes for healthy lifestyles including diet, nutrition, smoking and exercise.

Your Health Nottinghamshire have programmes for families and will often provide services from our Family Hub buildings.

We can also help you to find help with drugs or alcohol use, sexual health and contraception, vaccinations many more health issues. Just ask us and we will get you connected to the right service.
