Nottinghamshire Minerals Local Plan 2045
Nottinghamshire County Council and Nottingham City Council are jointly preparing a new Minerals Local Plan, which will set out the minerals strategy for the area until 2045.
The new Plan is expected to be adopted in late 2029 and will replace the adopted Nottinghamshire Minerals Local Plan (2021). Until then, the adopted Plan will remain in force and continue to be used when making planning decisions.

Which includes information about the new Plan and key stages in its preparation, such as:
- what areas the new Plan will cover
- the geographical area the Plan will cover
- planned dates for key milestones, including consultations.
This marks the start of preparing a new Minerals Local Plan under the Plan-Making Regulations 2026.
What happens next
The next stage is the scoping consultation, which will begin on 12 October 2026.
The consultation will ask for your views on:
- what should the Plan contain
- the key issues for the Plans preparation
- how we should engage with you throughout the Plans development.
