What accessible content means

People may not have a choice when using our websites, so itโ€™s important they work for everyone.

About 1 in 4 people have a long term illness, impairment or disability that could impact their ability access digital information. Many more will have temporary or situational access needs.

In 2018, the government passed a law requiring all public sector websites and apps meet basic accessibility requirements (GOV.UK)

Meeting these requirements:

  1. lets as many people as possible access services through our websites, on any device, to perform tasks online.
  2. builds on our existing obligations to people under the Equality Act 2010 (GOV.UK)
  3. supports our plan to improve our services and be forward-looking and resilient (The Nottinghamshire Plan)
