What accessible content means
People may not have a choice when using our websites, so it’s important they work for everyone.
About 1 in 4 people have a long term illness, impairment or disability that could impact their ability access digital information. Many more will have temporary or situational access needs.
In 2018, the government passed a law requiring all public sector websites and apps meet basic accessibility requirements (GOV.UK).
Meeting these requirements:
- lets as many people as possible access services through our websites, on any device, to perform tasks online.
- builds on our existing obligations to people under the Equality Act 2010 (GOV.UK)
- supports our plan to improve our services and be forward-looking and resilient (The Nottinghamshire Plan)
