Register for a HAF code

To obtain a HAF code you must be receiving benefits-related free school meals. This is different from the universal infant free school meals that all children in key stage 1 receive.

If you are not currently receiving benefits-related free school meals, you can apply through Free school meals and milk | Nottinghamshire County Council). The process is quick and easy, if you are told that you are eligible you can then come back to us for a HAF code.

HAF codes can now be obtained from our customer service centre, along with registering for free school meals. Contact us by calling: 0300 500 8080. 

Customer service opening hours: 

• Monday to Thursday: 8:30am to 5pm
• Friday: 8:30am to 4:30pm

If your child or young person had a HAF code in 2024, this code will stay with them for 2025. There is no need to request a new HAF code.
