Celebrating early years in Nottinghamshire

Irene SpeechIn support of childcare providers and early years settings in Nottinghamshire, the council held its first special event in 2022.

The event aimed to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the sector which makes a difference to the lives of Nottinghamshire’s children and families every day.

Childcare providers, nurseries, early years school settings and childminders, were nominated by peers and parents for their dedication and passion for supporting children.

The early years sector has experienced a number of challenges over the past few years, including the Covid-19 pandemic, the recruitment and retention of staff and increasing overhead costs.

Nottinghamshire’s committed and dedicated early years sector remained open during the pandemic, showed great resilience and innovative practice; and continued to champion the needs of young children.

We received more than 440 nominations in 2022 and the event showcased individuals and teams in Nottinghamshire that go the extra mile to deliver high quality early years care and education for children under five.

Ben Kingston Hughes from Inspired Children delivered a closing speech about why the early years is the most important time in a child’s life and why the early years workforce is amazing.
