Book an appointment to register a birth

Covid-19 (Coronavirus): Registration of births is suspended until further notice. Please do not try to book an appointment online or by calling our Customer Service Centre. During this time, parents are now able make a claim for child benefit or universal credit before a birth is registered as previous restrictions have been lifted in the meantime.

As parents, you are legally required to register a birth. You need to register your baby’s birth in order to obtain a birth certificate and give him/her an official identity.
