John Peck was elected as a County Councillor to represent the Rufford Division (the villages of Bilsthorpe, Clipstone, Edwinstowe, Kings Clipstone and Rufford) at a by-election in September 2012 and was re-elected in May 2013. John lives in Edwinstowe and is very active in the local community, both as a District and Parish Councillor. John is currently the Chair of the Children and Young People's Committee. He has a lifelong interest in the education and care of children, having been a teacher in Nottingham and the Headteacher of Peafield Lane Primary School in Mansfield Woodhouse for twenty years.
John is proud to represent a Division which includes Sherwood Forest and believes we must maximise the tourism potential for the area. He is also proud of the strong mining tradition in the communities he serves, Clipstone, Bilsthorpe and Edwinstowe, which includes Thoresby Colliery, one of Britain's last remaining deep coal mines. John would love to eventually see the Robin Hood line extended through Edwinstowe.
