Request information about you or someone else
Under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you. You can request this information by making a Subject Access Request (SAR).
This service is for
You can request a copy of your own personal information.
You may also request information about someone else if one of the following applies:

You have their consent

You hold a registered Lasting Power of Attorney that allows you to act on their behalf

You have parental responsibility for a child under 18

You have a legal authority to act for a person or their estate if they have passed away.
Eligibility
We do not hold personal information relating to:
- School records - contact the school
- CCTV recordings of road traffic (traffic cameras watch traffic, but do not record it)
- Information about council tax or benefits - contact your local District or Borough Council
- Health or medical records - contact your GP or the NHS
- Police records - contact the relevant police force
- Court reports - contact the Courts to apply for a transcript
- Birth, death, marriage or civil partnership certificate - purchase a copy certificate from the Nottinghamshire Registration services
- School exam results and certificates - contact the examining body
You will need
You will be prompted to upload files or photos of documents to the online request, which prove your right to access the information.
If you cannot upload the documents, you can still submit your request and send copies of the documents to us separately later.
We will not action a request until we have received all required evidence that you have a right to access the information.
What will happen next
Once we have confirmed your right to access the information we will respond to your request within the statutory timescale of one calendar month. In complex cases this can be extended by a further two months, but we will let you know if we need to do this.
It is a criminal offence under the Data Protection Act 2018 to knowingly or recklessly obtain, or attempt to obtain, personal information you are not legally entitled to. The Council may refer such cases for investigation or prosecution.
