Access Fund
In September 2016 we submitted bids to the Department for Transport's (DfT) "Access Fund" to help fund future travel planning work.
We have successfully delivered small-scale targeted personal travel planning (PTP) in recent years and the results of these programmes were used as evidence of the effective delivery of such work in both of the Access Fund bids.
The Access Fund revenue funding will, however, enable us to deliver PTP on a much larger and co-ordinated scale.
The two bids were for:
- £845,000 to undertake personal travel planning work with businesses, jobseekers, residents and school leavers in Mansfield and Newark to support the planned housing/employment growth and the recent/planned Local Growth Fund infrastructure improvements in these areas
- £150,000 to undertake personal travel planning with residents in Daybrook and West Bridgford to help address air quality issues in these two areas (as part of a joint bid with Nottingham and Derby City councils).
On 26 January 2017 the DfT announced that both of the bids had been successful.
The funding will enable us to develop the necessary marketing and communications strategy and supporting materials during 2017/18. The proposed travel planning work will be undertaken in 2018/19 and 2019/20.
