Recycling Checker

The system recognises postcodes from districts and boroughs within Nottinghamshire, but if this isn’t working, it may be because you live on a new housing development etc. If you are in Nottinghamshire and your postcode doesn’t work, please report this to  waste.management@nottscc.gov.uk and we will work to update our system accordingly. 

If an item isn’t listed, you could try searching for it using different key words or by simply reordering them. 

If you still can’t find your item, please use the ‘Add My Item’ feature and we will find out how it should be recycled in your area and then add it to the database. Please note that this can take up to 14 days to process before it appears on the system. 

Recycling symbols are printed on packaging by the manufacturer. These show that the material could possibly be recycled but only if there are suitable facilities to process the material. The Government's new Simpler Recycling regulations aim to standardise what can be recycled across the whole of England. This should mean that symbols on packaging will eventually be standardised too. 

Recycleopedia (who manages the Recycling Checker) will be informed when major manufacturers change their packaging, but it can sometimes take a little while to be updated on the database. You can let Recycleopedia know about any changes by emailing: waste.management@nottscc.gov.uk. 

In the meantime, please continue to follow the advice given by the Recycling Checker. 

Your local Borough or District Council is in charge of bring sites in your area. They will let us know if there is a change to the service. Changes may be temporary if a bank has been damaged or if there’s been a change in provider. If this is a permanent change, it will appear on the Recycling Checker, however it may take a little while for this to be updated on the system.
