Bus passengers in Rushcliffe are set to benefit from changes to local bus services from 14 September.

Nottingham City Transport (NCT) will operate the majority of the current 33 route to Cropwell Bishop as part of their new look 11 route via Lady Bay and Gamston Morrisons. The rest of the 33 route will be covered by the reconfiguration of council supported services to ensure the same or improved level of service.

This change comes in response to a commercial offer made by Nottingham City Transport to Nottinghamshire County Council, who currently operate the 33.

Working with NCT and other local bus operators, the county council will provide financial support for the service 11 morning and evening journeys and will upgrade service 747 and service 833 routes so that passengers no longer served by the new 11 remain connected by bus.

The 833 service will be extended to serve Upper Saxondale providing residents with a new hourly bus link to Bingham via Wychwood Road. Additionally, the 833 will be timed to connect with NCT’s 11 service at Cropwell Bishop, and passengers will be able to use through tickets for both routes at no extra cost.

The 747 service timetable will be adjusted to allow for better connections onto Nottingham City Transport’s Pathfinder 26 Service between Nottingham City and Southwell. The 747 Service route will also be extended to serve Gunthorpe, Shelford, Radcliffe on Trent, Upper Saxondale Cropwell Butler and Cropwell Bishop.

Derek Higton, Executive Director for Place at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “It’s great to see this investment in Nottinghamshire’s bus network that will give communities in central Rushcliffe direct access to Nottingham City Transport’s network.

“The changes to the 11, 747 and 833 will mean communities currently served by the 33 will retain existing links and gain new connections as well as through ticketing at no extra cost.

“It’s positive that the council has worked with local bus operators on routes and timetables, making sure key links are retained and new connections are made.  Passengers will benefit from more buses in Oxton and Lowdham on the 747, new connections to Bingham on the 833 and direct connections to the heart of Nottingham on the 11.
