Your Nottinghamshire, Your Future
Nottinghamshire is a place people are proud to call home. A county renowned for its history and unique heritage. It is home to Sherwood Forest, the world-famous stomping ground of the legendary Robin Hood. It is a place of ambition, where people are industrious, pioneering and creative. It is a place where business thrives, creating opportunities and prosperity. It is a place for adventure lovers and explorers, and a destination for world class sport, culture and leisure.
Nottinghamshire’s countryside, historic market towns and beautiful villages are precious to us, with strong and vibrant communities at the heart of everything we do. Together, we will protect all that makes us proud of our county, and create an even more exciting future. The way we live our lives is changing at an unprecedented rate. Investment and growth
Our vision is for Nottinghamshire to be a great place to bring up a family, to fulfil your ambitions, enjoy later life and to start and grow businesses. Our new council plan Your Nottinghamshire, Your Future sets out 12 commitments and the Place Department sits at the heart of achieving this vision.
Over the next 10-15 years our economy and our population will continue to grow significantly. We sit at the heart of the Midlands Engine, we will be home to the East Midlands hub for HS2 in Toton, we expect to see over 60,000 houses, seven new business parks and nationally significant infrastructure built in our county.
We are striving to transform the way the Place Department operates, to increase our energy and focus on growth and investment. We want to more proactively use our £2bn property and land portfolio to harness the power of growth in our county. We already deliver excellent services to our residents, and we want to use innovation and creativity to develop and adopt new service delivery models and commissioning routes. Our ethos is to challenge the status quo, nurture creative thinking, welcome new ideas and embrace change.
In Nottinghamshire we create place. Places people want to live, visit and do business. Our countryside and environment is incredibly important to us, from Sherwood Forest to our historic market towns. Our place shaping agenda is about building on this heritage and creating a new legacy for our county.
