Newark Book Festival - Mother’s Ruin: The history of gin with Mildred Freeman and Spirit of Trent Gin 7pm – 9pm. Newark Town Hall £12 / £10 Festival Friends. Join Mildred Freeman, The Lady Historian, to explore the wonderful and downright naughty history of glorious gin. Starting in the early 1100s and travelling through to our modern gin revolution allow Mildred to regale you with tales of bravery, plague, royalty, law, fuddled Georgians, and intoxicated sailors. (With one or two Music Hall songs thrown in for good measure!) Includes a Gin tasting experience and a tasting platter of nibbles. Thank you to our partners, Spirit of Trent Gin.
