About this course
This is a course suitable for adults. The aim will be to achieve the City and Guilds 3748 (Legacy) Function Skills ICT Level 2 qualification.
What will be covered on the course? What will be taught to learners?
The course will cover advanced skills in:
- Word processing (MS Word)
- Spreadsheets (MS Excel)
- Presentations (MS PowerPoint)
- Handling data (MS Access)
- Using online resources (email and Internet).
What will learners achieve by the end of the course?
- Select, interact with and use ICT systems safely and securely for files, folders and other media storage to enable efficient information retrieval.
- Use appropriate search techniques to locate and select relevant information.
- Select information from a variety of sources to meet requirements of a complex task.
- Apply a range of editing, formatting and layout techniques to meet needs, including text, tables, graphics, records, numerical data, charts, graphs or other digital content.
- Data handling
- Understand the need to stay safe and to respect others when using ICT-based communication.
Learners will have the skills to take the online assessment and gain the accredited level 2 qualification.
What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?
- This is a Level 2 accredited course and is not suitable for beginners.
- Learners should have already gained the C&G Functional Skills ICT level 1 or the Essential Digital Skills level 1 qualification and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 (or similar operating system). Learners should be familiar with the keyboard layout and be able to type accurately.
- Laptops will be available if you don't already have one.

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:
- Complete the EVENTBRITE BOOKING.
- Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.
You should be redirected to the Inspire Online Enrolment Form after completing the Eventbrite booking. If you are not redirected, please use the link supplied in the Eventbrite booking confirmation email.
To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
