Silversmith Ring Workshop
Come and enjoy a creative session, and learn the art of traditional silversmithing. Guided by our expert tutor Jo, you will get hands-on with the tools and materials to create a handcrafted ring. All in the relaxing setting of Hanwell Wine Estate. To enable this workshop to go ahead it will take place outside under gazebos. By the end of your session, you will have made 1 stacking ring made with 2mm thick wire. What you will learn: Introduction to the tools and materials and how to handle them. Techniques including; hammering to add texture, shaping and sawing. Soldering to create a layered look. Adding the finishing touch of polishing. What is included: – Everything is included, all tools and materials, plus refreshments and snack. Plus, a sneaky little wine tasting if desired only after you have done your soldering though. About your tutor Jo Fleming An experienced jewellery designer/maker, Jo attending her first craft fair in 1989 with beaded jewellery, but for the last 15 years has predominantly used traditional silversmithing and wire wrapping techniques to create handcrafted pieces in sterling silver and copper, sometimes including semi-precious stones. Jo’s style is influenced by art nouveau, along with inspiration from the textures and shapes of the natural world. To ensure the quality of your personal experience, group size will be limited to 8. (Please note: a minimum number of 4 bookings is required in order for the session to go ahead) Suitable for children aged 16 years and over must be accompanied by a paying adult.
