The Night Sky at Sherwood Forest

Saturday 2 February 2019 5.30pm to 8pm Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre £8.00 (concessionary: £6.40 for RSPB Members.)

Join us for an evening of stargazing at Sherwood Forest! Learn about the night sky in general, particularly naked eye celestial delights such as the planets, aurora, meteors and stars. Nigel Cunnington will provide his in-depth knowledge of all things radio astronomy, and will have a fabulous display of meteorites for visitors to look at and hold, each having its own story to tell. We also hope to listen to meteors in real-time using an antenna & computer software. The evening will include a talk about the Moon, and if we’re lucky enough to have a clear night, will include viewing it with telescopes provided by Mansfield & Sutton Astronomical Society.
