Your Nottinghamshire, Your Future: unitary local government for Nottinghamshire
Better. Simpler. Saves money.
In 2018 Nottinghamshire County Council produced its Outline Business Case for Change which included a proposal for a new system of unitary local government in Nottinghamshire that is simpler and more cost-effective. The project was paused whilst further work was carried out on the opportunities for refining the current two-tier structure.
Since then the COVID-19 pandemic and the likelihood of more opportunities for devolution from central government mean we need to look at the case for unitary government again to make sure we get the best deal for Nottinghamshire residents.
