About this course

This course is a beginner guide to decorating cakes and cupcakes. 



You will learn skills and techniques using royal icing, A paintbrush is stroked through royal icing leaving behind brush strokes which resemble stitching in fabric.  


On this course, we will cover: 

• How to emboss designs 
• How to ice a cupcake with sugar paste 
• How to create a shimmer effect on sugar paste icing 
• How to use a paper piping bag 
• How to create brush embroidery designs 
• How to use edible pearls to enhance your designs 

Learners will have produced a selection of designs to decorate and enhance any celebration cake or cupcake.  Some previous experience will be required to attend the course.  

Learners should bring:

  • Patchwork Large Christmas Rose set, flowers and the two leaves or a five leaf rose cutter, leaf shaped cutter  
  • Damp cloth  
  • Small amount of Sugar paste  
  • Water  
  • Small palette knife  
  • Piping bag  
  • Scissors  
  • No 3 Piping nozzle  
  • Dummy cake board or cup cakes  
  • Ready to roll icing  
  • Rolling pin 
  • Corn flour for dusting  
  • Circle cutter  
  • No 6 paintbrush and white dusting powder or snowflake dusting brush and edible pearls 
  • Note pad and pen

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
