Commenting on preparations which are underway for when people from Ukraine arrive in the county, Nottinghamshire County Council chief executive Anthony May said,

“This is a fast moving and evolving situation and councils and partners from across the City and County are working together to prepare for the arrival of people from Ukraine.

“We want to give people who have endured unimaginable suffering,  the warmest possible welcome to Nottinghamshire,   so work is well underway making sure these families have access to basic needs such as housing, education, healthcare and food as well as helping them integrate into their community.”

The County Council will lead on safeguarding checks for vulnerable children and adults.
