As school holiday time approaches, families across Nottinghamshire are set to have a fun-filled half term thanks to plenty of activities and events to help keep the kids entertained.

With the weather set to get warmer, here’s some top tips of things to do to help plan for the coming May half-term:

  • Mansfield Central Library will be offering a rhythmic ‘drum and dance’ taster session to tease out your inner dancer.
  • Rufford Abbey Country Park is stepping into the world of fantastic and hosting a fabulous ‘Its pink’ Barbie buffet breakfast, featuring a very special appearance from none other than the style icon herself and a prize for the best dressed.
  • Families with little ones at Rufford Abbey Country Park can enjoy story time with a twist and capture snaps and selfies as part of an experience with baby owls.
  • For those looking for adrenaline-fuelled outdoor adventure during the warmer weather, Holme Pierrepont Country Park will be offering an adventure holiday club, including activities such as a sky trail and zip wire.
  • The launch of the new ‘Five for £5’ bus ticket is also a great opportunity to take advantage of this half term, with unlimited day travel on selected Nottsbus Connect services for up to two adults and up to three children. Allowing families to explore some of the beautiful scenic park grounds in the county such as Attenborough Nature Reserve and Kings Park in Retford.

Councillor Scott Carlton, Cabinet Member for Communities and Public Health at Nottinghamshire County Council, said:

“Nottinghamshire has so many fantastic activities and events to offer this May half term, all of which are suitable for a variety of age groups. Whether it’s a day filled with canoeing and zip wire or a trip to one of our scenic country parks, I’ve no doubt that there will be something for everyone to take part in and enjoy.

“Don’t forget to take photos and share your adventures with us on social media by using the hashtag #ExploreNotts. We can’t wait to see what everyone gets up to this school holiday!”.
