Community groups and voluntary organisations in Nottinghamshire can apply for a grant to improve residents’ access to affordable and healthy food.
Nottinghamshire County Council’s Food Redistribution Grant is now open and aimed at established schemes which help families and residents to access affordable, good quality and nutritious food.
Organisations such as parish, district, borough councils and community groups can apply for a grant worth up to £4,000. The fund is open until Friday 5 December 2025.
Successful applicants will be able to use the funding to support their established food redistribution schemes. It’s all part of the county council’s drive to encourage healthy and sustainable communities.
Welcoming the latest council scheme to offer funding for the community and voluntary sector, Councillor Dawn Justice, Cabinet Member for Communities and Public Health, said;
“We know that the community and voluntary sector is well placed to deliver food redistribution schemes in their local area and support some of the most vulnerable and hard-to-reach members of our community. The overall aim is that we help our residents live healthier and more independent lives.”

This grant comes off the back of the latest round of Local Communities Fund (LCF) which offers finance support for eligible community groups. This includes match-funding for schemes which boost local facilities as well as helping with essential running costs.
The LCF is now closed and groups will hear back whether their application has been successful or not in the New Year.
Councillor Justice added:
"We want to assure groups that while the current four-year programme (2022–2026) will conclude on 31 March 2026, as planned, there are no plans to remove financial support.
"LCF is currently being evaluated to ensure it continues to meet our priorities to support communities effectively and build financial resilience. So this review is about strengthening impact, not stopping financial support."
