SAIS catch-up clinics
If a child has missed a vaccine at school or they are home educated, there are opportunities to catch up.
IntraHealth deliver the school aged immunisation service (SAIS) and offer catch-up clinics during the school holidays, for school-aged children who live in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
IntraHealth also offer vaccinations by appointment during term time in East Bridgford. Call 0333 358 3397 and select option 4 then option 2 to book an appointment.
Vaccines available at the catch-up clinics
Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
One injection is given in year 8 to protect against some cancers and genital warts linked to the HPV virus.
Tetanus, diphtheria and polio (3-in-1 teenage booster vaccine (Td/IPV)
One injection is given in year 9 to complete the five-dose course which gives most people lifelong protection against tetanus, diphtheria and polio.
Meningococcal (Men) ACWY vaccine (MenACWY)
One injection is given in year 9 to protect against meningitis and septicaemia caused by four groups of meningococcal bacteria – A, C, W and Y.
Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)
Two doses of the MMR vaccination are usually given to children before they start school. This will provide long-term protection against measles, mumps and rubella. If your child has missed out on one or both vaccinations, it can be given at the catch-up clinics. The MMR vaccination is also available at your GP for anyone of any age who isn’t protected.
Flu
A nasal spray given annually each autumn/winter to school-aged children. Protects against the flu virus which can cause serious illness. There is a porcine free alternative available if required.
