Take your Camera off 'Auto' Photography Workshop

Saturday 21 October 2017 10am to 3pm Hanwell Wine Estate £85.00

Beginner’s Digital Photography Workshop | Saturday 21st October 2017 | 10am – 3pm |  If you’d like to get the best from your camera this summer, join us for a day and make our vineyard the perfect backdrop as you learn the art of photography. Award-winning professional photographer and film-maker Chris England will be hosting a one day workshop focused on helping you capture striking photographs with any type of digital camera. Working with a small group of beginners in a mixture of classroom and practical sessions around the vineyard estate, Chris will talk about the essentials of composition and demonstrate the core principles as he offers advice to improve your photography. All materials will be provided and the workshop includes a two-course homemade lunch served with local wine. For best results we recommend you bring your own camera, but if you would prefer to borrow one for the day please let us know when you book. If you are able to bring the instruction manual for your camera, along with a tripod, even better, but no problem if this isn’t possible. “There are some fantastic landscapes around Hanwell Wine Estate, perfect for beginners to put the principles of photography into practice,” describes Chris, who runs a successful photography studio in Grantham. “We’ll spend time down at the lake where we can get some really stunning waterside pictures, as well as some great close up images of the natural environment and wild flowers around the vineyard. At the end of the workshop, participants will have a collection of impressive digital images to take away and everyone will have a good understanding of photography basics such as lighting, the rule of thirds, lead in lines, depth of field and neutral space.” Outline of the day: 10am – Welcome and summary of day. Principles of photography and setting up equipment. 11am – Learning in the great outdoors – using the landscapes of the vineyard estate to demonstrate core techniques. Midday – Break for two-course home-made lunch with glass of local wine. 1pm – Putting principles into practice – walking around the vineyard estate with cameras at the ready. 2.30pm – Break for tea and cake. 2.45pm – Reviewing images, discussing ideas for improvement and looking briefly at the best options for editing software.
