Make Do and Mend Workshop

Tuesday 27 November 2018 9am to 12.30pm Mansfield Materials Recovery Facility Free

Ready for Christmas, see first-hand what happens to the items you put into your recycling bin.

The workshop will include a tour of the facility, a fun recycling challenge, and a make do and mend sewing workshop to learn the basics of using both a sewing machine and sewing by hand. Projects might include working on alterations and adaptations to clothes in your wardrobe so they can be reused rather than disposed of. Updating a patchwork quilt, or re-using fabric to make a bag, aprons, cushion or stocking.

The focus of these sessions is to reduce textile waste, and to remind everyone that textiles should not go in the kerbside recycling bin. For all the workshops we will try to use recycled or donated materials and fabric to ensure as much material is reused in Nottinghamshire as possible.

Refreshments will be provided, we ask all attendees to bring along anything they would like to alter and any spare or old material, so that we may give it a new lease of life.

Places are limited, book now to avoid disappointment. Each session is open to a maximum of 6 people, visitors must be aged 7 and above.

Please Note: We allow 1 session per person per year to ensure as many residents can take part as possible. Attendees must be from one of the 7 Boroughs and Districts of Nottinghamshire (excluding the City).

Organised by: Member of the public
