Sexual health

Sexual health services provide information, advice and support on things like contraception, STI testing and treatment, abortions, reproductive health and sexual dysfunction. For more information visit our Nottinghamshire Sexual Health website


There are 15 types of contraception, see the NHS contraception guide to make sure you use the right one for you. You can get contraception from your GP, pharmacies and clinics

Sexual transmitted infections (STIs)

STIs are common - about 1 in 10 sexually active people will have one in their lifetime. All can be passed on but not all have obvious symptoms. Visit the STI NHS choices website to find out about the type of STIs, symptoms and how they are treated. 

Young people's sexual health

There is a variety of support, advice and information about sex, relationships and contraception just for young people including:

  • Brook - an independent charity aimed at people under 25
  • NHS Choices - covers a wide range of sex and relationship issues
  • Work Talking About - free confidential advice line, call 0800 28 29 30. 

C Card

If you are under 26 and live in Nottinghamshire you can get free condoms, lubricants and confidential advice with the C Card scheme
