A career, not just a job

Training and professional development

Our people are our greatest asset.  We have invested heavily in a training programme to support all our teams to develop the skills and experience they need to deliver a high-quality service for Nottinghamshire’s children and families.

Starting with our highly successful Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) and continuing throughout your career  Nottinghamshire County Council. We are committed to providing excellent continuous professional development. Our comprehensive range of courses includes our extensive internal training programme, as well as those provided by the Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Children Partnership

Close links with local universities allows us to offer a range of funded post-graduate courses at both Nottingham Trent and Nottingham University. In particular, we encourage all of our more experienced staff to complete the Practice Educator course, so that they can mentor the next generation of social workers

Career Development

We have opportunities for both newly qualified and experienced social workers to develop their careers. We have developed specific career pathways with clear expectations for the training, skills and experience needed to progress.

For any team members who want to develop their careers, we offer further support including shadowing experienced professionals to gain invaluable insight and experience.

We want our social workers to feel fulfilled and that’s  why we invest so heavily in training and career development opportunities. To discover more about the full range of opportunities currently available click here opportunities currently available. Download Social Worker Career Pathway.
