Bridging Club

Bridging clubs allow pupils to access additional swimming lessons led by fully qualified instructors in small classes.

These lessons are targeted to pupils who have physical disabilities, specific learning difficulties, obesity problems, or for children who lack confidence in and around water. The lessons are structured and designed to meet the needs of the individual, helping them to develop confidence, strength and self-esteem. Swimming is an excellent way for many children to access a positive sporting experience.

Lessons are held during Nottinghamshire authority school term-time (schools in Nottingham City, other counties, academies and other own authority schools may not have the same term dates) within school hours, and are suitable for children described above who will benefit from the additional teaching to improve and develop their skills.

Eligibility

These bridging club lessons are for children who have received an invitation letter from our school swimming service.

Parents of children attending a mainstream school who haven't received an invitation letter but are interested in these lessons, must first email: schoolsswimming@nottscc.gov.uk. Parents of pupils who attend a special school or college should speak to the school directly to access additional supportive services.

What will happen next

The Schools’ Swimming team will respond to your request with 10 working days.

You will then receive an email with the details of the allocation and how to pay for the lessons. The first agreed payment will be required prior to commencing the bridging club.
