Educational Psychology Service (EPS)

We are a team of Educational Psychologists (EPs) employed by Nottinghamshire County Council to support the development and wellbeing of children and young people, by applying our psychological knowledge and skills.

"Thank you most sincerely for delivering an amazing training programme. I’m feeling so inspired by the training and fuelled to make the difference." Teaching Assistants, Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) Training Programme.

Our core work involves supporting individual children and groups of children via direct work with Nottinghamshire schools. This work is negotiated in termly springboard planning meetings attended by school SENCOs. While we focus on children’s development, most of our work is with the adults who are with children on a day-to-day basis such as teachers, parents, other professionals. Our work involves having conversations with these adults to help them to see a child’s situation differently and ultimately bring about positive change for the child.

We now offer additional training and development packages as sold services to schools. Please contact us directly for a full list of the training we have on offer.

"Excellent, clear and tackling a real need." Secondary School Staff, Anxious Learners and Anxiety-Related Non-Attendance (ARNA) Training Day.

What we offer:

  • Support and advice for schools in understanding and supporting children with complex needs (core offer)
  • Leading group problem-solving meetings to help people to navigate complex or ‘stuck’ situations e.g. Solution Circles, PATH (core and sold services)
  • Training and development work in schools and organisations
  • Independent evaluation research (sold services)

"This has been very useful and I can see that it will be helpful with some of our pupils in school.
