School Aged Immunisation Service

The Immunisation team are a new dedicated team of highly skilled professionals providing immunisations in schools and the community. Working closely with schools we provide vaccinations to children and young people in primary and secondary schools. We also provide a targeted service for those children not in education at a range of safe and accessible locations.

What we offer

  • Protection to children and young people in our communities.
  • Immunisation from diseases such as Polio that have disappeared in the UK, but are still around in many countries throughout the world.
  • Flu vaccination by nasal spray offered to all children in school year Reception to year 11. Reducing the spread of flu to their families and the wider community.
  • A porcine-free injectable flu vaccination given at our community venues
  • Booster vaccinations for secondary school children in Year 9 to protect against tetanus, diphtheria, polio and meningococcal ACWY.
  • HPV immunisation which protects girls and boys against the viruses responsible for cancer of the cervix and mouth. HPV is provided through one injection given to all children in Year 8.

It’s time to say shoo to the flu!

It is time for your child’s yearly flu vaccination!
School Years:  Reception to year 11

Why get your child vaccinated?

  • It is free and protects you child and family from potentially serious problems.
  • The vaccination is a quick and simple nose spray that works the same as a flu jab.
  • Giving your child the flu spray will stop the spread.
  • Older people and those with illnesses are most at risk if they catch flu from children.
  • Flu changes all the time, so even if your child had it last year it is vital they have it again this year.
  • Follow the link here for more information on whether your child requires the spray or jab.

How do you let us know if you want your child to have the flu vaccination?

  • Your school should send you details of how you can consent.
  • Alternatively, please get in touch via the contact details on this page.
