The latest Government guidance around educational visits was released on 2 July 2020. The guidance confirms that “in the autumn term, schools can resume non-overnight domestic educational visits.” For now, the guidance continues to “advise against domestic (UK) overnight and overseas educational visits at this stage”.
On this basis, Notts Outdoors will be delighted to invite schools back to their Nottinghamshire Day Centres for educational visits. Notts Outdoors will work with schools through their centres and EVOLVE visits advice system to share information about the robust risk assessments and operating procedures in place for their centres. Plus, two new programmes - Virtual Outdoor Learning Teaching Support (VOLTS) and Schools Outdoor Learning Adventures (SOLA) – will enable to schools bring outdoor learning to their own premises.
Virtual Outdoor Learning Teaching Support (VOLTS) is a new accessible collection of video resources that have been developed to support schools in line with DfE guidance to seek opportunities to teach outdoors where possible. All activities have been designed to be delivered by school staff, on school grounds. Each activity is linked to the National Curriculum and supported with downloadable teaching resources, available via the Schools Portal. Activities have been chosen with consideration for the current restrictions associated with the pandemic.
Schools Outdoor Learning Adventures (SOLA) is a new offer from Notts Outdoors that brings the adventures right to school grounds. From 1 September, SOLA can deliver a wide range of curriculum-based activities, similar to what can normally be seen at their day and residential centres. Our activities enrich the curriculum and engage learners in fun ways. Notts Outdoors provide qualified, experienced instructors or teachers with all the resources required to deliver an outdoor learning adventure.
