Schools are invited to join a global reading challenge on Thursday 8 October 2026 and help set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the most people reading online in 12 hours.
Part of the Take 10 to Read campaign (National Literacy Trust) and the National Year of Reading 2026, the free online event will feature authors and influencers in sessions for ages 5 to 8 years, 8 to 12 years, 12 to 16 years and 16+ years.
Each session will last no more than an hour and includes a shared ten-minute reading activity. Sessions will be repeated throughout the day, and classes only need to join one to count towards the record attempt.
