2025 marks an incredibly special milestone for Notts Outdoors, the Outdoor Education Service for Nottinghamshire County Council, as we celebrate 40 years of inspiring young minds through nature, adventure, and outdoor learning.
We are inviting schools across Nottinghamshire to take part in a creative competition that celebrates the outdoors and the legacy of Notts Outdoors.
To enter, we are asking each class to create a piece of outdoor environmental art that celebrates:
- Our 40th Birthday
- Notts Outdoors
- Bracken (our hedgehog mascot)
This is a fantastic opportunity to get creative outside, connect with nature, and celebrate the role outdoor learning plays in your school.
Entry guidelines:
- Open to KS1 and KS2.
- One entry per key stage, per school.
- Artwork must be created outside using natural or sustainable materials.
- Must clearly reference: 40th Birthday, Notts Outdoors and Bracken the hedgehog
- Entries can be submitted as photos or short videos of the finished piece, along with a brief written description.
- Please send entries to: nottsoutdoors@nottscc.gov.uk
The winning school will receive a £300 voucher to use towards any Notts Outdoors residential, day visit, or activity booking made before July 2026.
We are offering this prize for one KS1 entry and one KS2 entry, so your school has two chances to win!
We cannot wait to see how your pupils interpret this special theme and celebrate the outdoors in their own creative way.
This competition is open now and the closing date for entries is Friday 17 October. We will announce the winning entries week commencing 3 November.
