Part 2: Sites and policies

About the document

Nottinghamshire County Council and Nottingham City Council are working together to prepare a two-part replacement Waste Local Plan for our area. The Waste Site and Policies document will be the second part of this and is being prepared following the adoption of the Waste Core Strategy.

The document will identify, where possible, suitable sites for future waste management to meet the requirements and objectives set out in the Waste Core Strategy and set out policies for controlling development and making sure environmental standards are met.

Broad locations, agreed through the Waste Core Strategy, will show the main areas where new waste sites are likely to be acceptable but it will be the site specific document that decides exactly which individual sites are the most suitable. Development Management policies will cover issues such as traffic, noise and dust as well as policies aimed at protecting important wildlife, heritage sites and landscapes.

Current progress

A consultation was carried out on the site selection methodology for the Sites and Policies document in May/June 2015. Feedback from this consultation will be used to develop a final methodology which will then be used to identify potential future waste sites. A consultation

The current approved timetable and any subsequent changes to it are set out in the Minerals and Waste Development Scheme. We will also publish any updates here.

If you would like to be kept informed of progress with the site specific document please:

Once adopted, this document will replace the relevant parts of the Waste Local Plan.
