County Council to request further information on shale gas exploration application

Planners from Nottinghamshire County Council are to write to IGas to request further, additional information in relation to the company’s planning application for shale gas exploration on land off Springs Road, Misson in North Nottinghamshire.

The County Council is in the process of drafting a request for this additional information, which is needed to allow a full assessment of all the issues relating to the application. Subject to IGas’ consideration of this request, the County Council hopes to agree a new determination timetable for the application.

Once provided, the additional information will be subject to a period of consultation – details of which will be released in due course.

IGas is applying to carry out test drilling to check the suitability of the rock for shale gas extraction. The application does not include any proposals for hydraulic fracturing, known as 'fracking'.
