Nottinghamshire County Council is renewing advice to check sparklers before use as New Year’s Eve celebrations approach.

Klasek Turbo Sparklers (batch number 1801) were recalled over the bonfire period following reports that they had caused injury to some users.

With many expected to ring in 2020 with fireworks celebrations, people across Nottinghamshire are being urged to make sure sparklers they have purchased are not subject to this recall.

Customers who many have these items at home are advised not to use them and should instead return them to the retailer from which they were purchased.

Councillor John Handley, Vice-Chair of Nottinghamshire County Council’s Communities and Place Committee, said: “In November, we asked the public to check sparklers they would be using to celebrate Bonfire Night, and we would like to thank everyone who shared our message.

“We know that some of these sparklers are still in circulation, so if you have purchased sparklers to use as your ring in the New Year, please take a few minutes to check them and remind family and friends to do the same.

“We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy New Year.”

If you have any questions about the recall, you can contact the Citizens Advice Consumer Service Helpline on 03454 04 05 06.
