A new 40mph speed limit is to be implemented on the A6006 in Rushcliffe after Nottinghamshire County Council’s Communities and Place Committee approved the plans.

The new limit is set to come into place on the section of road near the Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre (DNRC) at Stanford Hall and improve safety for both road users and pedestrians.

With more traffic expected to be using the facility due to future plans, the limit change will reduce speeds along this section of road and give more time for drivers using the centre and surrounding junctions to react to turning vehicles.

The lower speeds will also offer a safer environment for non-motorised users, in particular pedestrians wishing to access the facility on foot.

Councillor John Cottee, Chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council’s Communities and Place Committee said: “The A6006 is a major road in the south of the county with over 9,000 vehicles using the route each day.

“The new lower speed limit outside Stanford Hall will make the road safer for all those using the junctions in the area, as well as pedestrians.”
