More than just a meal

If you are worried about an older relative, friend or neighbour struggling at home, our meals at home service could offer them the vital link to keep them independent.

Our award-winning service – called County Enterprise Foods – delivers 3500 hot or frozen meals to over 700 customers in Nottinghamshire every week. Many of them have told us that it’s ‘more than just a meal’, as our delivery drivers carry out a safe and well check on every visit and can raise the alarm if someone has had a fall or is unwell. They can help with any concerns and assist customers with small tasks such as pouring a cold drink, helping them to the table or posting a letter. 94% of customers who responded to a recent survey agreed that they felt more independent because of the service.

Our drivers have all been checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service and have also been trained to spot scams and bogus workmen. One driver recently prevented a customer from being scammed further after becoming suspicious about letters they were being asked to post. Unfortunately, the customer had already handed over several thousand pounds but the driver’s action in raising the alarm with the customer’s son meant that no further money was lost.

For some of our customers living alone, the driver may be the only person they talk to that day, so many of them appreciate a friendly face and a chat. 99% of customers recently agreed that the service gives their family peace of mind.

There are over 70 meals to choose from and people can either select a daily hot meal delivery or, if they are able to reheat their own meals, they can have one weekly or fortnightly delivery of frozen meals.

The service also offers breakfast packs, teatime packs or home from hospital hampers to save people from shopping for the essentials after a stay in hospital.
