Mansfield Registration Office to hold Wedding Open Day
Mansfield Registration Office will be hosting a Wedding Open Day on Sunday 3 February, where people can view the impressive Mansfield stone building at their leisure and find out what local services are available to make their big day special.
A range of small local firms who supply everything from flowers, wedding vehicles including a camper van, wedding dresses and menswear to cakes, wedding planners, photographers and hair and make-up artists, will be at the event. Those attending the Open Day can also find out about local venues which are licensed to hold weddings, or those which offer celebrations afterwards. A singer will also be entertaining visitors, to put people in the wedding mood.
The event runs from 11am until 2pm, where a team of registrars will be available to answer questions.
Diane Smith, manager of Mansfield Registration Office said:
“For our first such venture, the interest we’ve had has been extremely encouraging. Over 200 people have signed up to attend so far. We have a variety of local, value for money businesses showing the different wedding services they offer and all have been most supportive of the work we do. My team of registrars will be available to answer all your questions about the ceremony, the legalities, or anything else.
“We are also offering brides or grooms-to-be who attend on the day the chance to win a Mansfield Registration Office wedding, or alternatively the cost of the registrar’s fees paid should they choose to marry at one of our licensed venues. We are looking forward to welcoming as many people as possible, so if you’re thinking about getting married we’d encourage you to come along.”
Councillor John Handley, Vice-chairman of Communities and Place Committee said:
“Our registration teams offer a wide range of services to people at key points in their lives, like births, marriages, deaths, civil partnerships and citizenship ceremonies. The Wedding Open Day in Mansfield is sure to provide lots of useful information and ideas to anyone planning a wedding, as well as access to firms which offer wedding services.”
