Leader welcomes vaccine news

30 December 2020

Councillor Kay Cutts MBE, Leader of Nottinghamshire County Council, said:

"It is very positive news that the British Oxford Astra-Zeneca vaccine has been approved for use by the regulators. This is another step towards us beating the virus and my congratulations go to all those involved in the development of this vaccine which is easier to store and offers additional cause for optimism for our communities.

"I am very proud that the vaccine has been developed in the UK and that it will be available not just for people in this country but will also offer protection to many millions of people around the world.

"In time, everyone will be vaccinated, so please wait for the NHS to contact you. Later in the year there is every chance that we will be getting back to our usual way of life, mixing freely, meeting up with family and friends and socialising together. We will have to be patient for the time being and continue to follow the rules, including wearing a mask in public places and keeping socially distanced, but we can look forward to better times ahead."
