Inspire Learning and Libraries to hold open days across the county

Visitors can explore their local library, sign up to become a member, find out what’s on and try out some of Inspire Learning’s courses for Autumn 2021.

Open days will be running at the following libraries:

  • Sutton-in-Ashfield Library – Friday 3 September, 11am-2pm
  • Mansfield Central Library – Saturday 4 September, 11am-2pm
  • Worksop Library – Sunday 5 September, 12pm-3pm
  • Stapleford Library – Tuesday 7 September, 10am-1pm
  • West Bridgford Library – Wednesday 8 September, 9.30am-12pm

Each participating library will be running a different programme of free activities. Visitors can choose from friendly tutor-led taster sessions such as Italian, crafts, creative writing, maths, IT, sport, CPR and family learning, or fun library activities such as Rattle Rhyme Roll and story time.

Tutors will be on hand to offer information about Inspire Learning’s new Autumn programme of adult and family learning featuring both online and face-to-face courses, or to talk to about IT, maths, English and ESOL.  Courses are low cost or free for those in receipt of certain benefits.

Young people and their parents/carers can visit to find out about college courses and traineeships for those aged 16-24 which run out of specialist bases across the county. Inspire Learning offer Level 1, 2 and 3 AIM Awards or City & Guilds qualifications in a range of subjects including hospitality, IT user skills, bricklaying and construction, painting and decorating, carpentry and joinery, health and social care, and employability, and personal, social development. All courses provide GCSE or Functional Skills in Maths and English – and Inspire have just celebrated their best GCSE English resit results to date.

Those looking to progress in their career or up-skill, can come and talk to tutors about accredited courses. Inspire Learning offer courses in volunteering, teaching, health, social care or counselling, and business and management. Inspire Learning’s team of expert careers advisors will also be on hand during the open days and can offer help with job searches, benefits claims, CVs, job applications, interview skills, volunteering, work placement opportunities and more.

All open days are free to attend with no booking required.
