Get out on the water as facilities re-open at the National Water Sports Centre
Water facilities including the white-water course and regatta lake at Holme Pierrepont Country Park are set to re-open.
Paddlers can access both facilities from Saturday 13 June following updated government guidance on outdoor exercise.
There will be no provision to rent equipment as both the white-water course and regatta lake will initially only be open to existing members and competent users with their own equipment. Those wishing to use the facilities can book a slot through the National Water Sports Centre website.
From 13 June, visitors to Holme Pierrepont will be able to enjoy the surroundings for longer as opening hours are extended until 8:30pm Monday to Friday and from the earlier time of 7am at weekends.
A series of measures will be in place for water users to limit the spread of coronavirus, including a requirement to bring their own equipment, changing room facilities remaining out of operation, social distancing markings across the site, limited paddler numbers, and guidance on socially distancing when passing others on the water.
Outdoor shower facilities will only be open to those using the white-water course however all visitors to the country park will be able to access to public toilet facilities next to the Boathouse and white-water course.
Councillor John Cottee, Chairman of the Communities and Place Committee at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “Following updated government guidance on outdoor sports and exercise, both the white-water course and regatta lake at Holme Pierrepont will be able to re-open.
“I would like to thank everyone for their patience in the time that these facilities have been closed.
“We have worked closely with Holme Pierrepont Leisure Trust, who manage the facilities on behalf of the county council, and we would like to remind visitors that strict social distancing measures will be in place, both on and off the water to ensure everybody’s safety.
“Other facilities at the country park will remain closed until further notice, but please be assured that we will provide updates once it is safe for these to re-open.”
