10 millionth PPE milestone for services across Nottinghamshire

31 March 2021

More than 10 million items of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) have been delivered to services in need since the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Nottinghamshire County Council has supported the distribution of PPE equipment as a partner in the Local Resilience Forum (LRF), a multi-agency partnership of local public services.

The LRF ensures that PPE is allocated to the right people in the right place at the right time and has successfully delivered equipment to a range of sectors. Over 6 million items have been given to the Adult Social Care sector and nearly 1.5 million items to GP surgeries. PPE has also been delivered to Nottinghamshire residents who are receiving care at home from a Personal Assistant.

Kaj Ghattaora, Chair of the Logistics Cell, LRF Nottinghamshire said: “I am really proud of the role that our staff have played in enabling the LRF to safely distribute PPE throughout COVID-19. It has also been a great opportunity to work with our colleagues from partner agencies. Passing the one-year mark is an important milestone and I would like to thank all involved for their dedication.”

Lucy Fox, Programme Officer, Personal Protective Equipment Team said: “I’ve been working with people across the organisation, provider partners, health and suppliers to ensure that the service users of our PPE are supported. Everyone has worked hard to make sure there are supplies of PPE for those who need it to do their jobs safely, and we continue to make this a priority.”

Nottinghamshire County Council staff have been key in delivering equipment to many businesses and services from a central depot. Co-op Funeral Care is one of the organisations that have received support.

Dean Anderson, Regional Manager at Co-op Funeral Care said: “The LRF in Nottinghamshire has been a brilliant support all the way through the pandemic, but most importantly in the beginning when PPE supplies were critically low, they were a godsend in keeping my colleagues safe, I don’t know how we would have got through those early months without them!”

Although the PPE supply chains are now much more stable, LRF Nottinghamshire continues to meet to ensure PPE provision is delivered across the sector.
