The South Nottinghamshire Local Action Group (LAG) is the local partnership which secured LEADER funding for the area.
The LAG is a group of business and civil society volunteers and public sector partners who are actively involved in the rural economy of South Nottinghamshire. Members include farmers, business owners, tourism experts and other sector specialists. This enabled them to make the successful bid and to work to champion its profile and engagement locally and to make the best decisions on which projects to fund.
The LAG is private sector led and to be compliant with EU Regulations must not have public sector or single interest (farming, forestry, tourism etc.) dominance. This is reflected in its Terms of Reference. The Terms of Reference and the LAG's Code of Conduct are available on request.
They LAG works closely with the local LEADER Animation Team and the Accountable Body - and is a critical asset in determining applications against the LEADER area's priorities as well as ensuring that the grant money is spent on quality, innovative activities that are genuinely needed to support sustainable economic growth in the programme area.
Recruitment to the LAG will be ongoing through the entirety of the programme. If you are a local business owner, farmer or forester or have other relevant rural and local business experience, why not consider joining the South Nottinghamshire LAG? Please feel free to call or email us to get a better idea of what to expect or request a job description.

“Firstly, let me say welcome to the South Notts Leader Funding Programme which is aimed at supporting economic growth and innovation for rural businesses in our local area over the next four years.
In order to facilitate this, the main aim of the South Notts LAG is to encourage businesses and organisations from across the rural sector to come forward with ideas and plans for funding which will help create new jobs, increase productivity, improve services and promote sustainable growth.
Members of the South Notts LAG are individuals who represent organisations and companies drawn from the public, private and civil sectors of the local community. We act in a voluntary capacity and have a variety of skills, knowledge and experience to help champion the local economy and ensure the successful delivery of this LEADER programme.
I would encourage anyone with a suitable project idea to read the guidance in the handbook and then contact the South Notts Programme officer should you have any queries, to discuss your project and assess your eligibility for LEADER funding.
I do hope we will be able to help make your ideas a reality, and help make South Nottinghamshire a more thriving, prosperous and enjoyable place to live.”
Your LAG needs you!
